Philadelphia Phillies designated hitter Kyle Schwarber’s monster 2025 season has been overshadowed, somewhat, thanks to Shohei Ohtani’s elite year that will likely result in his third straight NL MVP award.

Schwarber — who spent the second half of the 2021 campaign with the Boston Red Sox — went 4-for-5 with two home runs and a double on Wednesday night, leading the Phillies to an 11-1 win over the Miami Marlins. The home runs were his NL-leading 55th and 56th of the year.
The 32-year-old All-Star may finish behind Ohtani in the NL MVP race, but Schwarber is now threatening to break Philadelphia’s single-season home run record.
