More than a decade after a woman was attacked in north Edmonton, police say DNA has led to one man being charged, and a warrant issued for a second suspect connected to the case.
On Jan. 1, 2013, a woman was sexually assaulted by two men in a parked vehicle in the Clareview area, police said in a Wednesday news release.
At the time, DNA evidence collected from the assault was unsuccessful in identifying either suspect. However in April, DNA from one of the samples was flagged, leading to the identification of one of the suspects.
Police said a second sample from the assault was re-tested with new DNA technology, and that led to the identification of the second suspect.
