Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence company, xAI, has finalized an agreement with the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) to integrate its Grok AI chatbot into federal agencies. Announced Thursday, the contract is valid through March 2027, allowing agencies to adopt Grok models at 42 cents per organization, a notable contrast to the $1 per year charged by OpenAI for ChatGPT access.

Scope of the deal

The contract covers Grok 4 and Grok 4 Fast, which xAI markets as its most advanced reasoning AI models. Under the agreement, xAI engineers will assist agencies in implementing Grok technology. Additionally, federal agencies can choose Grok enterprise subscriptions that meet federal security requirements, offering expanded features and higher usage limits.
