CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — A Harrison County man is headed to prison for a murder tied to a $100 drug debt.
A Harrison County Judge sentenced Dennis High, 38, of Salem to life with mercy for the murder charges and another five years for conspiracy to commit kidnapping. He was credited with 582 days already served. The two sentences will run consecutively.
High was convicted in August for the Feb. 2024, homicide of Clarksburg resident Dallion Lewis over the drug debt. The jury in the case deliberated for 90minutes before they reached the verdict.
Prosecutors contended High was a central figure in the crime, but he claimed he was deceived into participating in the events that led to the murder. High was one of five individuals indicted in the murder case.
