The cavalry is coming, and a lot earlier than in many past seasons.

The London Knights are aiming to have goaltender Aleksei Medvedev, first-line centre Sam O’Reilly, top-flight winger Noah Read and – if their cross-continent travel is kind – defensive stalwarts Henry Brzustewicz and Jared Woolley in the lineup this weekend.

After an injury, Swedish defender and Colorado prospect Linus Funck is also on track to make his OHL debut Friday against Brampton (7 p.m. at Canada Life Place).

That’s an infusion of six NHL draft picks, including two first-rounders, all at once.

“It’s good,” London head coach Dale Hunter said. “They got the experience to go to the National Hockey League and play some exhibition games. They know how the pros prepare and hopefully, it helps their all-around game. J
