The corner of 60th Drive and 69th Street in Maspeth was co-named last Saturday to honor Andrew J. Frazier, a U.S. Navy veteran who served in World War II.
City Councilman Bob Holden, who sponsored the event, said in a Facebook post that Frazier devoted his life to family, service and community.
Frazier, who lived to 100 years old, was named grand marshal of the Maspeth Memorial Day Parade in 2011. He also served as a member of his local Veterans of Foreign Wars, Holden said.
Frazier died last year and is interred at Mount Olivet Cemetery, according to his obituary on papaverofuneralhome.com .
“His legacy of patriotism, love of country, and commitment to his neighbors will live on for generations,” Holden said.
