The "boomer" column written by Allison Schrager, was quite amusing if not totally ridiculous.
In 1976, my first home cost $44,000 and my salary was $69.00 per week (before taxes). Housing was less, yes, but so were earnings. As far as government benefits, never received any and lower taxes, not in my lifetime. Am I receiving the minimal Social Security that I paid into for 40+ years, absolutely.
Are boomers "wealthier" than 35-year-olds (ridiculous statement), maybe, but since we've scraped and saved for the last 50 years, it's reasonable to presume same. Though I won't be around, I hope Ms. Schrager updates her article when she hits 75 and is "wealthier" than the 35-year-olds in her world.
