Heineken just bought a piece of Genesee beer’s corporate parent, but not the Rochester brewery

The big news in the global beer industry this week has raised questions about the future of Rochester’s Genesee Brewery.

Heineken , the Dutch beer giant, announced Monday that it has purchased all of the Central American and Mexican business operations of FIFCO , a Costa Rica-based food and beverage company. The price was $3.2 billion.
