Hassan Yehia Chokr also is facing charges connected to the 2022 incident in Oakland County Circuit Court.

Chokr's attorney said his client has been in custody since Dec. 4, 2022.

The incident at the Oakland County synagogue happened in front of parents and preschool children, federal prosecutors said.
