Andy Burnham says he will limit public appearances at the Labour Party Conference next week to avoid stepping on toes.

He’s certainly done a bang up job of keeping a low profile this week.

After giving a front page interview to The New Statesman about his plan for Britain, he today told The Telegraph that several Labour MPs have urged him to challenge Sir Keir Starmer.

He also set out what looked like a mini manifesto, arguing for higher council tax on southern homes and a 50p top rate of income tax and criticising a “climate of fear” created in Labour by Number 10.
