SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - After the resignation of Sheriff Johathan Meyer, a new Sac County sheriff was appointed.

On Tuesday, Sept. 23, Kathryn Stange was appointed to fill the position of Sac County Sheriff during a Board of Supervisors meeting, according to the board’s minutes.

Board minutes say Stange took the oath of office during the meeting. She was previously the Chief Deputy of the Sac County Sheriff’s Office.

This comes after the county’s previous sheriff, Jonathan Meyer, stepped away from the position in September. He took the role after Sac County’s longtime sheriff, Ken McClure, retired after 37 years in law enforcement.

As previously reported in his letter of resignation, Meyer announced his plan to return to his role as a sergeant after stepping down from the sheriff role.
