A school in Pittston, Maine , went into lockdown Wednesday as authorities arrested a man who had been riding in a car that was allegedly carrying explosives two days earlier, officials said.

On Monday, police pulled over a driver in Newcastle and found “explosive devices” inside the vehicle, the state fire marshal’s office said.

Officials didn’t disclose the amount or type of explosives found in the vehicle at the time.

After obtaining a search warrant, a State Police tactical team went Wednesday to a home in Pittston, where they arrested Nicholas Presby, 43, on a charge of criminal use of explosives.

Presby was arrested at the Pittston house without incident, officials said. It wasn’t clear if he had hired a lawyer who could speak on his behalf.
