Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow says Ontario Premier Doug Ford has made “the wrong decision” when it comes to his proposed legislative ban on automated speed cameras when MPPs return to work in October.

“Speed cameras work,” Chow told reporters Thursday following the Premier’s announcement.

“They help save lives. And we know speeding kills. Today, the province, announced that they are banning one of the most effective tools we have to slow drivers down and keep people safe. I think this is a wrong decision. It signals to people that the provincial government is okay with speeding. It will mean our roads are less safe.”
