A Baton Rouge man who once before was accused of child abuse was sentenced Wednesday to 15 years in prison in a plea deal on a second abuse — one that ended with the death of a newborn twin.
The mother, meanwhile, also faces charges in the abuse of their 6-week-old twins .
Darryl Richardson, 27, was indicted on charges of second-degree murder and second-degree cruelty to a juvenile after his infant son Major was found dead in a bassinet in 2023.
Richardson pleaded guilty to less-severe charges of negligent homicide and negligent injuring during a hearing Wednesday, according to 19th Judicial District Court records.
District Judge Bonnie Jackson sentenced the Baton Rouge man to five years without the possibility of parole on the negligent homicide charge and gave him an additional 10
