The nation's universal emergency response line, 9-1-1, was down for roughly 3 hours across much of Louisiana before being restored later Thursday afternoon.
The outages were caused by multiple cuts to a 911 fiber line in Mississippi, affecting agencies from St. Bernard Parish to Lafayette Parish, and some counties in Mississippi.
" Our teams have dispatched and are working as quickly as possible to repair multiple fiber cuts, affecting 9-1-1 service for some customers in Louisiana and Mississippi," a spokesperson for AT&T told The Advocate in a statement. "We understand how important these services are and appreciate the patience of our customers."
