RAY BROOK, New York (WWNY) - New York State Police say they believe an alleged killer they’ve been looking for is still alive.

Troopers held a news conference in Essex County on Thursday morning to update the public about their search for Anthony Bechand.

Police found his abandoned pickup truck earlier this month, north of Saranac Lake in Franklin County.

“Before I even knew this even happened, I got a knock on the door, like a day before it hit the news, and state troopers explained what was going on,” he said.

Bechand is the primary suspect in the homicide case of Amanda Rodriguez, who was found dead in Cohoes more than 10 days ago.
