BURRILLVILLE, R.I. (WPRI) — An investigation is underway after Burrillville schools reportedly experienced a "cybersecurity event" on Wednesday morning.

An official with the Burrillville School Department said they are working with police and external cybersecurity professionals.

"We took swift action with our goal to protect [Burrillville] School Department data information," Superintendent Michael Sollitto said. "We will keep the community informed as the investigation unfolds."

All of the town's schools are operational and no student or staff Chromebooks were impacted, according to officials.

This is a developing story and will be updated as we learn more information.
