SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WPRI) — Two children were injured after a school bus was involved in a crash in South Kingstown on Thursday afternoon.

The crash happened around 3:25 p.m. on Kingstown Road near the intersection with East Farm Road, about a mile from the University of Rhode Island campus.

An officer on scene said three vehicles were involved, including the bus which was hit from behind. According to police, the bus was carrying two adults and 19 students from West Kingston Elementary School at the time.

Two children were taken to Hasbro Children's Hospital with minor injuries.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

A 12 News crew is at the scene working to gather more information.
