GRAND CANYON VILLAGE, Ariz. — Parts of the North Rim of the Grand Canyon will reopen for public access on Oct. 1 for the first time since a wildfire devastated the area, destroying landmarks and ecosystems alike.
Grand Canyon National Park said in a news release that starting Oct. 1, select areas of the North Rim will be partially reopened, including Highway 67 to the W1 road, as well as the Cape Royal Road, which provides access to both Point Imperial and Cape Royal.
Fire Point and Swamp Ridge will also reopen, and all of the areas will be open daily from sunrise to sunset. No overnight use will be permitted on the North Rim outside of Fire Point and Swamp Point, the news release states.
