Police detained a Castle High School student Thursday after the student reportedly brought a gun to school inside their backpack.

Warrick County Sheriff Mike Wilder confirmed the incident to the Courier & Press Thursday afternoon. According to a message sent to parents from from the Warrick County School Corp. at 12:48 p.m., several students notified administration there was a student with a weapon."The student has been detained and the weapon is in possession of law enforcement at this time," the email states.

The email claims it didn't appear the student "intended any harm to CHS or its students."

"Since the situation is secure, we plan to continue a regular schedule today at Castle High School," the letter states.
