ST PAUL, Minn. — If you're going anywhere near St. Paul this weekend—BE PREPARED—for major road closures .

The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) will shut down major sections of Interstate 94 and Interstate 35E as part of its big repair project for downtown bridges.

Beginning at 10 p.m. Friday, westbound I-94 will close between I-35E and John Ireland Boulevard. Additionally, southbound I-35E will be closed between University Avenue and 10th Street. Both closures are scheduled to remain in place through 5 a.m. Monday, Sept. 29.

The closures are part of MnDOT's goal to repair several bridges over I-94 and I-35E in the area. The project includes the ongoing maintenance of the I-94 bridge (Dartmouth Bridge).
