ROCK HILL, S.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- A 14-year-old was killed in Rock Hill Thursday afternoon after a gun was reportedly mishandled by another teen, police say.

According to the Rock Hill Police Department, officers responded at 12:57 p.m. to a shooting in the 1800 block of Springsteen Road. Officers found the 14-year-old with a gunshot wound, and the victim died on the scene.

Rock Hill investigators determined the victim, and a 15-year-old were in the apartment together. The 15-year-old was reportedly manipulating and mishandling a firearm when the fatal shot was fired.

The suspect was charged with involuntary manslaughter and was placed in custody of the Department of Juvenile Justice.
