[DES MOINES, Iowa] — Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate expressed disappointment over errors reported by several school board secretaries and city clerks.

Pate said at least seven counties failed to submit candidate filing paperwork to county auditors by the deadline on Friday for the 2025 school elections.

The errors affected at least 34 candidates across three school districts and six Iowa cities.

Impacted candidates will now have to undergo write-in campaigns to run.
