DUBUQUE, Iowa — The Dubuque Coalition for Nonviolence is focusing on educating the public about gun violence in the United States.
The organization hosted its third annual "Die-In" event in Dubuque on Wednesday. The event featured 120 tombstones, representing the average number of people who die each day from gun violence.
Art Roche, chair of Iowans for Gun Safety, shared his thoughts on the impact of recent events.
"This had a much bigger effect than the Newton school shootings 15 years ago had in terms of public recognition and lasting effect," Roche said.
“It has brought a lot of conversation to the surface about gun violence from people I hadn’t heard it from before.”
The event was held in Washington Park.
