PADUCAH, Ky. (WSIL) -- A jailer was arrested and taken to jail after an investigation into sexual abuse involving an inmate in McCracken County.

The McCracken County Sheriff's Office said they investigated a jail employee at the McCracken County Jail after Jailer Stephen Carter initiated the investigation on September 25, 2025.

The sheriff's office said their investigation found Gabrielle Baerd, a deputy jailer, had inappropriate sexual contact with a male inmate on multiple occasions.

Authorities arrested Baerd in the early afternoon on September 25.

The sheriff's office said she was cited with offenses of Sexual Abuse 2nd Degree and Official Misconduct 2nd Degree. Baerd was taken to the Marshall County Jail.
