GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Spencer High is one of many that calls birding a favorite hobby.

For people like High, the fall migration is one of the most fun times of year for bird watching.

"This evening, there are an estimated 471 million birds that will be flying over the United States working their way south from their breeding grounds that are more up in the northern part of North America, down south into their wintering grounds."
