HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Almost two years after the death of a 3-month-old infant in Waller County, authorities have made an arrest in the case.

On Thursday, the Waller County Sheriff's Office shared that a man was charged with murder.

According to authorities, on Dec. 19, 2023, the Prairie View Police Department began an investigation into the child's death. It was reported that the 3-month-old had suffered deadly injuries during an incident.

Officers said that, with the help of the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Waller County Sheriff's Office, they were able to charge Shawn Washington with murder and injury to a child with serious bodily injury.

Washington was arrested on Tuesday by the sheriff's office.
