DEVILS LAKE, N.D. — Court documents filed Thursday, Sept. 25, provide new details about a six-hour standoff between a former Devils Lake police officer and law enforcement.

Rey Hennen, 37, who had just been accused of sexually assaulting a woman, was charged Thursday with reckless endangerment. Prosecutors say Hennen fired a gun in the direction of law enforcement during the standoff at his home.

According to a three-page affidavit of probable cause, Devils Lake police responded to a 911 hangup just before 11 p.m. on Sept. 8. That call marked the beginning of the sexual assault investigation.
