WARROAD, Minn. — Authorities are searching for a pet bobcat that escaped from a home in Warroad on Thursday, Sept. 25.

The Roseau County Sheriff’s Office shared a photo of the bobcat on Facebook, warning residents not to approach the animal. Anyone who spots it should contact the sheriff’s office at 218-463-1421 or the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources at 507-285-7186.

Under Minnesota law, big cats such as bobcats are considered regulated animals and are illegal for most people to own. Exemptions exist for wildlife sanctuaries, accredited zoos, and individuals with the proper permits.
