INDIANAPOLIS — There are renewed concerns about a homeless encampment behind a Walmart on East Washington Street on the far east side of Indianapolis .

The encampment crosses over both sides of the Pennsy Trail .

13News did not see anyone in the camp Thursday morning, but did see one tent and dozens of shopping carts. Clothing, shoes, pots and pans and trash were scattered everywhere.

City-County Councilor Michael-Paul Hart posted on social media that he was invited by Walmart to see the area.

“This is severe city neglect,” he wrote. “This situation cannot be ignored any longer our community deserves better.”
