AUBURN, Ind. — Police in northeastern Indiana are investigating following a shooting at a free fair Wednesday evening.

According to a release from the Auburn Police Department , around 8:20 p.m. on Sept. 24, officers were called to the 100 block of 6th Street , just north of the DeKalb County Fairgrounds, on a report of shots fired.

The shots were fired during the DeKalb County Free Fall Fair, which our NBC affiliate in Fort Wayne, WPTA , reports is a fair held across several blocks of downtown Auburn as well as the DeKalb County Fairgrounds.

Officers from APD, deputies the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office and members of the Auburn Fire Department responded to the scene within two minutes of getting the call and were able to quickly assess and control the situation, police said.
