The Allegheny Regional Asset District is recommending a record $146.7 million in grants for 2026, with a “significant” increase to projects in parks and trails, according to a preliminary budget released Thursday.
RAD said in a release that its Board Allocations Committee proposed a funding increase to Allegheny County Parks of $29.7 million in operating funds and $9.5 million in capital funds.
For the City of Pittsburgh Regional Parks, there’s a proposed increase of $10.6 million in operating funds and $2.7 million in capital funds.
Operating funds would help with day-to-day costs, and capital funds would serve more specific purposes. The proposed increases for those parks would mean about 31% more in overall RAD funding.
