DUBUQUE, Iowa (KCRG) - The Dubuque Community School District will hold two community information meetings regarding the $70 million bond referendum to consolidate its middle schools .
The referendum to consolidate its middle schools from three to two will be on the November 4 election ballot. It would close a pair of more than 100-year-old buildings: Washington Middle School and Jefferson Middle School.
Using nearly $52 million in sales tax funds in combination with the $70 million bond, the district would build a new middle school at the site of Washington Middle School.
Washington would be torn down once the new middle school is completed, while Jefferson’s future remains undecided.
