IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) - The Iowa City Police Department (ICPD) will reveal the first electric patrol vehicle at the University of Iowa Homecoming Parade.

The Iowa City Police Department’s Chevy Blazer EV patrol vehicle will be featured in the University of Iowa Homecoming Parade from 5:45 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

The ICPD has introduced the Chevy Blazer to the community response fleet, which already includes a Chevy Bolt, a Ford Lightning, and two RECON e-bikes. The Blazer is considered the first patrol-rated EV in Iowa.

This Chevy Blazer has been tested and reinforced for emergency and law enforcement duties, featuring upgraded braking, suspension, wheels, and enhanced durability.
