Following through on his pledge to use the Department of Justice to prosecute his political enemies, President Donald Trump’s appointed Attorney General, Pam Bondi, has charged former FBI Director James Comey with making a false statement and obstruction in a criminal case.

Indicating that the department will follow up with the facts later, Bondi posted on X, “Today’s indictment reflects this Department of Justice’s commitment to holding those who abuse positions of power accountable for misleading the American people.”

Comey was one of the targets of Trump’s largest gripe: the 2016 investigation into whether his first presidential campaign colluded with Russia. The president and his supporters have long described the investigation headed by Comey as a “hoax” and a “witch hunt.” Multiple
