PHOENIX (AZFamily) —Heavy rainfall resulting in flooding prompted the temporary closure of a 4-mile stretch of U.S. 60 in the Miami area on Thursday afternoon, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.
As of 4 p.m., one lane is open between milepost 243, which is south of Turner Street, and milepost 247, which is near Russell Road.
It comes as the National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning after strong storms were located over Tonto National Monument. That warning was allowed to expire at 5 p.m.
Video from an Arizona’s Family viewer showed a Miami road turned into a raging river. Another photo from downtown Miami shows pickup truck drivers going through at least several inches of water.
