QUEENS, N.Y. (PIX11) – A woman’s decomposing torso found by sanitation workers on Monday had identifiable tattoos that were visible, the NYPD announced on Thursday.

The medical examiner performed an autopsy. The doctor determined the torso showed no wounds or injuries that could indicate the cause of death. The only injury found was a broken rib, which police said probably occurred when the torso was dropped.

Sanitation workers were cleaning up the roadside when they noticed a ‘package’ with a foul odor on Monday. Officers were notified, and a drone was used to survey the area, authorities said.

The remains were found just before 8 a.m. near 149 Avenue and Brookville Boulevard, officials said.
