LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- A man threatened several airmen with a gun before a security officer shot him during an incident Wednesday morning at Nellis Air Force Base, documents said.
Pierce McFarland, 23, faces charges including assault with a deadly weapon, records said.
In the hours before the shooting, a family member of McFarland’s called police to say that he wanted to die by suicide in a shootout with police, according to documents the 8 News Now Investigators obtained.
Around 12:30 a.m., McFarland drove to the main gate at Nellis Air Force Base on Las Vegas Boulevard near Craig Road. There, he allegedly stood in front of the gate with a gun and refused to comply with Nellis security forces, documents said.
