Tens of thousands of bags of frozen shrimp have been recalled again because they may be contaminated with a radioactive isotope, the FDA warns .

The shrimp were sold under Kroger and AquaStar brand names at multiple retailers across more than two dozen states, between June 12 and September 17, 2025.

Affected products include:

Kroger Raw Colossal EZ Peel Shrimp

Kroger Mercado Cooked Medium Peeled Tail-Off Shrimp

AquaStar Raw Peeled Tail-on Shrimp Skewers

The suspected contaminant is cesium-137 (Cs-137), a radioactive isotope.

The FDA initiated the first recall on August 19, announcing that certain raw frozen shrimp products processed by BMS Foods had tested positive for Cs-137. A number of manufacturers sold these products under different brand names to retailers nationwide.
