AUGUSTA, Ga (WJBF) - Making way for new construction in Downtown Augusta after a public hearing Thursday night.
The hearing for demolishing the property at 1140 Broad St. has been postponed until next month.
It was postponed due to the fire that happened last week next door to the property.
After the decision was made to postpone this business item, the commission has many questions about this new idea for Downtown Augusta.
“I already know that there’s a lot of opposition to the buildings coming down however I do believe that a parking lot in the short term and then a brand-new hotel in the long term it what's best for that area,” said Jim Trotter// Attorney for Amar Patel and Naman Augusta, LLC.
The next meeting will be help on October 23rd.
