President Donald Trump has signed an executive order on Thursday to restore the death penalty to Washington, D. C. ‌

The presidential directive instructed Pam Bondi , the U.S. Attorney General, and Jeanine Pirro, the U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, to fully enforce capital punishment in Washington, D. C. ‌

During the signing ceremony, Trump reiterated his claim that crime figures have dropped following the deployment of the National Guard in the capital. ‌
