GOODYEAR, Ariz. — Inflation is causing prices to rise, and now a West Valley city said it's forcing them to be selective in road maintenance.
"If we ignore the problem, it doesn't go away; it gets worse," said Sumeet Mohan.
In the City of Goodyear, there are more than 1,100 lane miles—which is a lane that goes for a mile—of streets. For Public Works Director Sumeet Mohan, it's important that all of them be maintained every 5 to 7 years or so. However, inflation is making it increasingly difficult.
"What we've experienced in the last 5 to 7 years is the prices have been going up for all raw materials that go into different pavement preservation treatments we do," he said.
