Jaxon Smith-Njigba is lucky one penalty didn't turn into two after his NSFW complaint to a referee was picked up by a hot mic.
During Thursday night's matchup between the Seattle Seahawks and the Arizona Cardinals, Smith-Njigba was called for an unfortunate holding penalty that wiped a Zach Charbonnet fourth quarter touchdown off the board. The touchdown would have put the game well and truly away for the Seahawks, but Seattle ended up having to settle for a field goal thanks to the penalty.
Smith-Njigba, however, didn't agree with the call and voiced his displeasure to the referee. Even more unfortunately, those pretty clear NSFW complaints were picked up by the referee's microphone, broadcasting Smith-Njigba's words to the entire stadium and to those watching on TV.
So, what did Smith-Njigba say? It sounds very much like "that's some [expletive]" to our ears.
Given the side eye Smith-Njigba got from the referee before he continued his penalty call, the Seahawks wide receiver was incredibly lucky he wasn't flagged for something more.
