A dense fog advisory was released by the National Weather Service on Thursday at 11:23 p.m. in effect until Friday at 8 a.m. for Chemung, Cortland, Chenango, Tioga and Broome counties.

The weather service says to prepare for, "Visibility of a quarter mile or less in dense fog."

"Low visibility could make driving conditions hazardous," describes the weather service. "If driving, slow down, use your headlights, and leave plenty of distance ahead of you."
