EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (First Alert 4) - Following an over two-hour closed door session, the Edwardsville school board Thursday voted unanimously to suspend Superintendent Dr. Patrick Shelton with pay.

School board members revealed few details about what led to the suspension, citing personnel issues.

The board did show support for the interim superintendent, Dr. Allen Duncan, who is the assistant superintendent.

“We have full confidence that Allen Duncan will do a good job, and we’re here to support him and make sure that he fills in,” said Board President Bob Paty.
