Brown Water Blues: Resident concerns continue, as Village says no water quality concerns in system

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - Brown water concerns are still top of mind for the residents of Bethalto, a small village in Southern Illinois, even as the water coloring and inspections have stepped up.

“Water safety is not negotiable,” said Village Mayor Gary Bost in a press release. “The IEPA has assured us that, even during the time prior to taking the filters offline, Bethalto’s water supply remained safe.”

Residents however, tell First Alert 4 they’re still concerned about water quality.

First Alert 4 has been following this story for weeks, about dark brown water pouring from taps for decades, schools trucking in outside water, issues with communication between the Village and residents, locals feeling left out to dry, emergency testing by Illinois EPA on water, and resident tes
