COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) - According to Texas A&M AgriLife, there is another parasite that can harm a wide range of animals, particularly cattle.
It’s called the Asian Longhorned Tick , and when it latches on, things can take a turn. However, it won’t affect humans the same way it affects animals.
Pete Teel , an entomology professor at Texas A&M AgriLife Research, said the first case of the Asian Longhorned Tick was reported in 2017 in New Jersey. However, there are now cases in 23 states.
Teel says the majority of Asian Longhorned Tick cases are found up north, but some have made their way down to Oklahoma and Arkansas.
