Bengaluru police have arrested a shop owner and his staffer for brutally assaulting a woman on Avenue Road after accusing her of stealing sarees worth Rs 91,500 from their store, Maya Silk Sarees.

According to the FIR, complainant Umed Ram, who runs the store near Karur Vysya Bank in Chickpet, reported that on September 20 a woman allegedly stole a bundle of 61 sarees from his shop.

CCTV footage reportedly showed her taking the packed bundle around 12.30 pm. Based on his statement, City Market police registered a case.
