MAIZE, Kan. (KSNW) -- The inaugural season of girls football in the ICT is in full swing and Maize South sophomore quarterback Karli Harden has quickly become a standout.

In her first year playing the game, she is leading the Mavericks to an undefeated start. Harden is a three-sport athlete, also playing basketball and throwing on the track and field team.

"Throwing in track has a lot of the same stuff with throwing a football. Just the arm movement and muscles you use. And footwork in basketball has really helped a lot," she explained.

On top of her natural talent, the game of football has always been close to home. Her father Shane has been coaching boys football for more than 20 years.
