The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Odisha, warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall under the influence of a well-marked low-pressure system formed over the Bay of Bengal.

As per the IMD, the system is expected to intensify into a depression within the next 24 hours, triggering widespread rainfall across the state. Coastal and southern Odisha are already witnessing continuous downpours, raising concerns of waterlogging and localized flooding.

Today, an orange alert has been issued for the Koraput and Malkangiri districts, where extremely heavy rainfall is predicted. The Twin Cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar have also experienced steady showers since morning, affecting normal life and traffic movement.
